Facebook Upholds Ban of President Trump’s Account

Review board calls for it to have a clear end date, or be permanent.

On Wednesday, Facebook announced that its semi-independent review board, made up of individuals from around the world, had determined that the company had made the right decision to ban the former president from Facebook’s platforms. The ban came after the January 6 event after which the Capitol Building was entered unlawfully by protestors. The review board determined that the former president’s posts were guilty of inciting violence.

However, the board determined that Facebook was incorrect to make the ban indefinite. They called on Facebook to either give a specific timeline for when the account would be reinstated, or make the ban permanent. The ruling gives Facebook six months to comply with the directive.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. governing officials who are evaluating the power of social media platforms.
  • For Congress and the president’s administration to protect the constitutional right to free speech.
  • That God would guide Congress to the best legislation for social media companies in the days to come.
